Careers & Employability

Priesthorpe School aims to provide comprehensive and good quality information, advice and guidance to all students to enable them to make effective decisions for the future.

Who can help?

Coaches and Year Leaders have access to careers information through the Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) Programme and also their subject areas.  Coaches and students can also arrange individual appointments for guidance through Mrs Davis – Careers and Work Experience Co-ordinator.  She is in school on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and is based in the OLC. You can email her with queries and requests on

Mrs Davis also arranges work experience for all Year 10 and 12 pupils as Priesthorpe staff believe that this builds confidence and awareness of the world of work.  Parents are asked to support this opportunity, which usually happens in the Summer Term.

Priesthorpe School has also engaged a Careers Professional from Shine Services to provide impartial Information, Advice and Guidance. Christine Humberstone is in school on Tuesdays to meet pupils individually (in the OLC Office) or in groups to discuss their ideas and plans. After an individual interview Chris produces a Summary of Guidance and Action Plan which the student is encouraged to share with families.

Chris is available at parents' evenings and contributes to other events such as the Year 8 and 9 Options process and year assemblies.

Shine Careers Professionals are qualified and experienced careers guidance specialists, so you can trust that the advice and guidance provided is fair and independent, and based on individual needs.
